ChemTreat Innovations
High Cycle High Stress Cooling Water Products
- In
November 2003, ChemTreat was awarded an important US patent 6,645,384
titled, “Method for Inhibiting Scale In High Cycle Aqueous Systems.” This
patent details a breakthrough in scale control technology, whereby cooling
waters can be operated at much higher cycles or temperatures than
previously obtainable with conventional technology. The key building block
for these products is based on Quadrasperse®.
- Quadrasperse®
is ChemTreat's revolutionary new quad-polymer technology. Quadrasperse®
programs provide superior deposit control for calcium phosphate, calcium
carbonate, magnesium silicate and iron. The Quadrasperse®
quad-polymer is thermally and hydrolytically stable making Quadrasperse®
the technology of choice for high stress and high cycle cooling water
applications.
Polymer Measurement in Cooling and Boiler Water
- The
ChemTreat PolyTrak® Product Test Kit is another new technology
recently developed by ChemTreat. The patented technology used by the kit
enables cooling water and boiler inhibitor products to be easily measured
in the field based on the level of active polymer. The PolyTrak®
kit allows ChemTreat field engineers and customers to effectively optimize
treatment program dosage and performance.
Environmentally-Friendly Cooling Water Products
- Increasing
regulatory issues at both the state and federal level are putting new
demands on the types of chemicals which can be safely discharged to the
environment. In response, in 2004, ChemTreat is introducing a new line of
phosphate-free cooling water products. These products give excellent
performance, but contribute zero phosphate to cooling tower discharge.
Products in the CL-4600 series and are all zero phosphate cooling water treatments.
Multi-Metal Closed Loop Corrosion Inhibitors
- ChemTreat
recently introduced a new range of closed loop corrosion inhibitors
specifically designed for multi-metal systems, including aluminum. CL-2890
and CL-2891 are new, non-nitrite based corrosion inhibitors offering
excellent corrosion inhibition for ferrous and cupric alloys, and also
aluminum-based alloys. This unique chemistry is exclusive to ChemTreat and
will provide long-term protection for multi-metal closed loop systems.
Non-Amine Condensate Inhibitors
- In
response to a need from the food industry for condensate corrosion
inhibitors that have indirect contact with food, ChemTreat has introduced
BL-1560 and BL-1562, FDA approved non-amine condensate line treatments.
These filming inhibitors offer excellent condensate line protection
without the problems associated with filming amines such as gunking. The
materials are FDA approved for indirect food contact, and ChemTreat is
proud to announce we have developed a specific field test for these
products which allows the engineer to test for and quantify the prescence
of the corrosion inhibitor. Through the use of this test, product dosage
can be carefully controlled to ensure both effectiveness and regulatory
compliance.
Brine Corrosion Inhibitors
- Brine
systems are frequently untreated because of poor availability of effective
corrosion inhibitors. ChemTreat has extensive experience of treating
calcium and sodium chloride brines, as well as lithium chloride brines.
Several new brine inhibitor technology products were recently introduced
including CL-2852 and CL-2888. These products are designed for effective
corrosion inhibition of calcium chloride brines. Corrosion rates in brines
treated with these inhibitors are typically less than 1 mpy on mild steel,
and these treatments are becoming widely adopted by the chemical and
pharmaceutical industries as the best approach to brine corrosion control.
Neutral pH Iron Cleaning
- ChemTreat
is the first water treatment company to introduce a neutral pH
Quadrasperse® based on an iron cleaning program. The high
stability and excellent surfactant characteristics of Quadarasperse made
it an excellent candidate for on-line iron removal program. With neutral
pH cleaners, effective iron removal can be achieved without the need for
inhibited acids and the associated hazards of handling and disposing of
such materials.
Low Conductivity Closed Loop Corrosion Inhibitors
- Many
closed systems used in manufacturing industries have stringent low
conductivity requirements (for example, in automotive and semi-conductor
manufacturing). ChemTreat was able to address this need and has developed
a new product, CL-2880, which provides excellent corrosion inhibition of
both ferrous and copper-based alloys at conductivity levels approaching
100 μmhos. This product addresses an important market need where very
few corrosion control alternatives previously existed. The product is
environmentally friendly and is directly measurable using the PolyTrak®test kit.
